A private transfer to Koh Chang by car or minibus the most convenient and cost effective way of getting here. It’s not for everyone, as some people will prefer to take the bus and others will want to take the 50 minute flight to Trat from Bangkok Airways. But flying doesn’t save much time overall if you’re staying in central Bangkok. And whilst the bus will get you here safely, it is a bit of a hassle especially if you are travelling with kids.

Elephant camps are currently a controversial subject due to the treatment, or lack of, of elephants in some of the camps in Thailand. But there is no hiding from the fact that elephants and the camps are one of Thailand’s top tourist attractions. Our advice would be to read up on each camp before you arrive and check other visitors reviews, before making your choice.
Elephant camps provide the chance to join Elephants for a swim, feed them and, of course, take a ride on the elephants. The most popular and apparently humane elephant camp is Ban Kwan Chang, supported by the Asian Elephant Foundation. The camp is located in Klong Son which is away from the resorts, but in our opinion worth making the journey. Here you will witness the elephants in their natural quiet environment, surrounded by jungle and fruit farms.

Surprisingly, few people bother making the effort to head into Koh Chang’s interior on a trek. But if you need some exercise whilst on holiday jungle trekking is definitely worth doing. Whilst there are no signposted routes, there are guided treks available to suit everyone from families with young children to people wanting a serious test of their stamina.
“Reward of this hard trek will be the breathtaking and spectacular panorama 360 degrees view over Koh Chang’s jungle covered terrain as it meets the sea. You will have the opportunity to look over the brilliant blue ocean and all the surrounding Islands.”

Koh Chang is starting to become a popular dive destination. This is mainly due to the newbie friendly dive sites in the Koh Chang Marine Park, and the selection of well-run dive schools on the island.
The diving runs all year round, but for good visibility and calm waters, the best time to visit is between November and May. With the lack of strong currents and shallow waters, Koh Chang is becoming popular with beginners learning to dive or refreshing their skills.
The Marine Park provides a diverse range of diving, from coral pinnacles to shallow sloping reefs. There is also the recently sunk Royal Thai navy ship HTMS Chang, this sunken ship has become a home for a range of marine life, including barracuda, eel, and the odd sea turtle. From December – February, Whale Sharks can also be seen.
